Dredging is going well. The team has dredged the mouth and all the way out to the first red buoy (R12) and a bit beyond. Depths are about 7 feet deep at 4191.2’ msl.
That is the good news.
The bad news isn’t that bad but here it is. They are moving into the marina again and plan to start dredging the main fairway between B and D dock. In doing this the barge will pretty much block the whole
fairway making it impossible to get past them.
We don’t want traffic heading out the main fairway from 6am to 6pm each day for the next week. Let’s let them get this area done. It will get rid of the shallow hump that is right at B dock. Please just
be patient. They are making quick work of this.
After this week they plan to move back out into the channel. At that point you should be able to get past the dredging operations in the channel but please hail on VHF channel 16 to let the barge know you
are there. They are pretty blind when swinging the boom around on the excavator.
If you do not have a VHF Marine Band radio please get one if you are planning on going out. Before 6am and after 6pm there is no issue - - - unless you do not have navigation lights. If you don’t, don’t
go out.
Thanks
Dave
