Great Salt Lake Marina
Area
August 24,
2007
GSL Slip Renters and
Marina Users.
The mouth of the Great
Salt Lake State Marina is now quite shallow.
At a lake level of 4197.7
(the level as of this date) the optimum depth is only 5' now.
Storm surge can effect
this depth.
Although some of the mouth
is only silted in and can be pushed through with deeper draft boats you will
want to consider this carefully.
Other parts of the mouth
are hard packed sand.
There are also some rocks
in the west end of the mouth (these are marked with an orange buoy in the center
of the mouth.
Boats drawing more than
4.5 feet will want to seriously consider whether they should leave the
marina.
When using the marina
mouth please use extra caution. As you approach the mouth you may
encounter a boat stuck in the mouth. Consider bail-out options and traffic
in the marina.
Thank you
