We finally have a little hope for next sailing season. Our snowpack today, for the Great Salt Lake drainage area, hit 108% with the critical Bear River area hitting 103%. This does NOT bring us out of the woods though. We still have a long way to go.

We went into the 2019 water season with quite the deficit in the reservoirs and ground water. October gave us a great beginning at 159% only to be followed by a very dry November. December almost crawled out of the hole delivering us 91% of normal. Then January delivered critically needed snow of 126%

February is just beginning but this latest storm really helped out. And it looks like February could be wet. That will not be enough though. We still need a wet March and April to save our sailing season.

Right now there is some hope that we will be able to keep four foot drafts (or less) in the marina all season. We may still be faced with pulling deeper draft boats this summer though if we only see normal snowpack or less. And if we see much lower-than-normal snowpack for the rest of the spring we may still have to pull the vast majority of the boats.

But there is hope.
