WORK ORDERS

All summer, we have been working on a new marina manager program that would allow us to better manage aspects of the marina as well as be interactive with the slip renters. Well We developed a snag that has put the project on hold. So I am going to create a fillable work order form that will be on www.gslmarina.com<http://www.gslmarina.com> that you can fill out and submit to us when you see problems that need to be addressed by the maintenance team. We don't always catch every problem so we want to make it easier for you to report problems to us so we can more quickly get on necessary repairs. One note though: Please don't put Dredging as an issue. I know it is. And we are constantly working to try and get dredging done. It is not an easy process when you get so many State and Federal agencies involved. When I have something to report on dredging, whether it is positive or negative, I will let you know. Thank you. Water to the docks

Well this storm today clearly signaled it's time to turn the water off to the docks. This will happen this weekend. If you have hoses on the dock please DISCONNECT them and remove them from the dock. If you want to leave them on your boat that is fine. BUT DO NOT LEAVE THEM ON THE DOCK. Theses become tripping hazards during the winter. And the water temperatures are just too cold and dangerous in the winter. Thank you. Dave

Sad News. Long time slip renter, Errol Remington passed away last night after a short stay in hospice. Errol had a Catalina 30 on E dock for some time and enjoyed sailing on the Great Salt Lake for many years. More information to come as soon as an obituary and funeral information is published. Dave

BOAT REGISTRATIONS!

I just heard from a reliable source that the Law Enforcement Rangers are planning on being out at Great Salt Lake State Park tomorrow (Sunday) to check for expired boat registrations and proper display of current stickers. It is not enough to register your boat each year. You must also have your stickers properly attached to the hull of the boat. If your boat is in the parking lot you should have no problems but if your boat is in the water they will be checking them. I don't know if they will write warnings or citations for expired registrations or failure to display. The Law Enforcement Rangers are now a separate Division. If your boat registration is expired or your current stickers aren't on the boat, please don't email me. There is nothing I can do about it. I wish I had more time to warn everyone to be prepared but I'm just hearing about this myself. Yet, I warn of this every year so it shouldn't be a surprise that the Rangers will come out to look for compliance. Dave

Harbormaster's Annual Turkey Fest

It's almost here!! The best food of the season! Deep Fried Turkey. If you have never had deep fried turkey, you are missing out on a real treat. This event started out with one deep fryer and one turkey with about 8 guests. Over the 27th year run of this event it has grown to four deep fryers, and nine turkeys with incredible side dishes. Last year we had about 165 people that we fed. Do not miss this great social. It is open up to all the marina community. SO MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Saturday, November 23rd. We start serving promptly at 4pm. Don't be late because the turkey goes fast. I will send more emails to remind people to RSVP. We need those RSVP's so we can plan on how many turkeys to buy. I will provide the turkeys but side dishes are greatly appreciated. SEE YOU THERE! Dave

Water to Docks

We will be turning the water off to the docks sometime this month. As soon as we can see a cold spell on the forecast we will turn the water off. We will keep it on as long as possible but it may be early as two weeks when we turn the water off. I will keep you posted but use the water while you can. Dave

Aluminum Hose Connectors

We still have a lot of slip renters using aluminum hose connectors on the faucets at the boat docks. EVERY ONE of these has seized to the pedestals and we will have to replace those faucets. From today forward we will be charging parts and labor to the slip renter for replacement of the faucets. The cost of parts and labor is about $200 One of our former slip renter sent me a great suggestion. He has a boat in the Pacific NW where they have the same problem. They have been using Eden 93218 Premium Gardon Connect with Shutoff Valve and Water Stop & Lock Feature Quick Release. They can be found on Amazon. Dave
