Power Cord Problems
We have recently had a few power pedestals where the plug outlets have melted. This is caused by problems with shore power cords. One of the common problems is dirty metal connectors on the end of the plug. The marina environment is brutal to shore power plugs. We recommend you check your plugs. If the metal connectors are dirty use some CLR and clean them up. If there is any burned areas your cord MUST be replaced.
Also, cords MUST be UL rated for marine environment and rated for 30amp. Standard extension cords will not be acceptable. Cords MUST not make contact with the water at any time. (They MUST NOT drape in the water). The maintenance crew will be checking for power cord compliance and disconnecting any questionable cords.
Fuel on the Dock
The maintenance crew has removed some fuel containers from the docks. These have been disposed of. We cannot allow fuel, oil, propane or other dangerous or flamable chemicals to be stored on the docks anymore.
The fire at the Lake Powell marina caused an estimated five million dollars damage. State Parks is now cracking down on issues that puts marina property at risk or the safety of parks visitors at risk.
