Storm Damage Update

Slip Renters After walking the docks, it seems there is no more damage to report other than Matt Peters boat on 'J' dock. Matt, your boat is tipped over in its slip. The boat looks ok other than that. I do recommend that all owners check their boats at their soonest convenience. Remember that we tied up several mainsails last night. Those on 'K' and 'L' dock: I couldn't see any apparent damage from that C22 breaking loose and possibly hitting other boats on the above mentioned docks. Only a few inches of wet snow on the boats. Storm Damage

Slip Renters; 10:00pm Damage at the marina has been light so far. But we have had gusts above 70mph. CHECK YOUR PROPERTY TOMORROW. A Catalina 22 broke loose from 'L' dock. the boat was retrieved but we suggest people on the North of 'L' dock and on the South of 'K' dock check their boats for problems that may have been caused by this boat floating loose. The Catalina 22 was retrieved and is now tied on 'K' dock. (CHECK YOUR DOCK LINES) Jeff Brabender: your dock line broke. We secured it temporarily. You should hopefully be fine until tomorrow. There were a smattering of boats with mainsails that came out. We did the best to secure these sails. No unfurled genoa's as of 10:00pm "Island Serenade" is doing fine and secured but you are missing a starboard quarterline. "Cloud Nine" doing just fine. Andy Strebel. Your boat is fine but has blown off it's tongue block. Should be secured to protect property next to you. Storm front should pass around midnight. Could possibly see gusts near 100mph. Most vessels do look good as of 10pm but we suggest you check your property tomorrow. We will do another "dock walk" tomorrow morning and report on obvious problems we see. Thank you. Storm Warning

A Storm Warning has been issued for the Great Salt Lake Marina area. Gusts in excess of 60mph have been forecasted for the area. This could possibly bring stronger gusts and Tooele Twisters to the marina. Please consider checking your boats, sails, docklines and other personal property at the marina. Currently, we have only seen gusts approaching 20mph but it has slowly been developing. Thank you GSL Harbormaster

Power Cords, 'K' dock power

Dear slip renters The power is now up and running on 'K' dock. You may plug your boats back in as long as the following conditions are adhered to: 1. All shore power cords must be rated for 30 amps (125v). These cords are #10 AWG. All plugs on these cords must be of molded vinyl covers with no wires exposed. The plugs must be clean of corrosion. The cords must be in good condition with no cuts in the outer cover. 2. All extension cords must be industrial grade outdoor extension cords rated for at least 15 amps. They must be 14AWG/3 for 25' lengths; or 12AWG/3 for 50' lengths. Extension cords shall not be the source of "Shore Power" to the general boat electrics. They may be used for ONE appliance, such as a heater (in compliance with the "Boat Slip Lease" standard conditions). These cords must be clean of corrosion and cuts in the outer cover. They must be in good quality condition. 3. These cords MUST NOT be draped in the water or make contact with the water in any way. 4. No cords shall be trip hazards. 5. Any adaptors used must be of appropriate construction and be in good condition. 6. Any cords not meeting the above conditions will be unplugged and removed. The maintenance crew will start inspecting cords on 'K' dock on Monday. All cords removed will be tagged and held for the owners. OTHER POWER DOCKS WILL FOLLOW. I hope this does not sound harsh but, hey, when we startet checking out the power problem on 'K' dock we found some cords and adaptors that were a serious fire and safety hazard. We had an individual shocked due to a faulty cord draped in the water. WE WANT ALL OWNERS OF VESSELS ON 'K' DOCK TO CHECK YOUR ELECTRICAL components of your boats. Make sure they have not been damaged. After you plug in your boats check your cords and plugs for heat. Check your battery chargers and any other appliance, cords and plugs that are associated with the AC system of your boat. Make sure they are functioning properly. Report any problems to the marina office so that we may help you with these issues. We hope this has not been a major inconvenience to you. Thank you, GSL Harbormaster

K Dock Power

Dear Slip Renters; The power repair to 'K' dock is proceeding well. We anticipate that power will be restored before the weekend. You will want to come out and plug your own boats in. Please do not have your cables in the water. Please make sure the cords are of proper construction and in good shape. We will be posting a policy on power cords very soon. Please also inspect all electrical connections and components in your boat. Please inform us of any problems you encounter. On another note; The keys to the marina have been sent out.
