Rereading Instrumentalities of the Night
I bought these in hardcover when they came out. Hey, new Cook gets bought, sight unseen. I remember liking them but not being that impressed. With pandemic downtime, I've given them a reread. I have to say, they've grown on me. There's a lot going on here, and a lot I missed that first time through. Does anybody remember if Glen said anything about a fifth book?
I do this often as well. I will be recycling through PI Garrett soon enough. I have been trough TBC several times. On Thu, Jul 9, 2020, 14:24 Matt Cutter via glencook-fans < glencook-fans@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

I read an interview a few years back with GC and he said the sales of that series were too low for Tor so they decided not to do any more. And here I am waiting on The Butcher's Apprentice still! That's the giant serial killer novel Glen wrote ages ago but for which he has never found a publisher. It's semi-legendary at this point. Sort of a ghost novel in the sky. On Thu, Jul 16, 2020 at 10:12 AM saulamca--- via glencook-fans < glencook-fans@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

Huh. Learn something new every day. This is the first I've heard of it. At this point, I doubt self-publishing is in the works. Traditional publishing seems to have worked well for Glen. And he's been working his used book business on the con circuit. I'll bet this one stays unpublished while he enjoys spoiling the grandkids and traveling at his own whim.
