Angry Lead Skies did provide one answer to an unasked question.  Yes, there aren't a lot of human men around (many didn't survive doing their time in the army), but why does Garnet always get the ladies? Even when he met up with his old general in one of the books (a man that Garnet respected and didn't expect to see at a human supremacist meeting) the general remembered how Garnet could find a girl in the middle of the swamp.

In Angry Lead Skies we learn that Garnet has a minor psychic power.  Nothing much, but it's enough to make most women like him.  Learning that made it worth reading the confused book that was Angry Lead Skies.

And yes, I rate that book as a miss for Cook, but his few misses are better than most writers' hits.
