Subject: Re: [Glencook-fans] Copy of
Deadly Quicksilver Lies for Sale
John, I've really enjoyed your Amazon reviews of the Garrett
books. I encourage everyone on this list to read those reviews, as they're
written in a cheerful, positive manner.
I haven't seen any mention of
Deadly Quicksilver Lies being in print (I still have the copy available that I
mentioned when this thread started), or Red Iron Nights being reprinted.
However...Garrett appears to be getting the omnibus treatment! Sure, the SFBC
released collections over the years, but this is different, the core
publisher, Penguin/Roc is shown on Amazon as having Introducing Garrett come
out on August 2, 2011! This is a good ting, as people who have the Black
Company omnibuses, but are intimidated by the large number of separate
Something-Metal-Something Garrett books may be tempted to try what is
obviously the starting point.
The book has 656 pages,and a $16 cover
price. So it is probably the first four Garrett volumes. My guess is they will
produce three collections, to include all the books up through Cruel Zinc
Melodies, while letting Gilded Latten Bones be stand-alone for a while. But I
have no real idea, I guess we'll find out.
I also see that Nightshade
is releasing A Matter of Time in a reissue on April 1 next year. No final
Dread Empire omnibus in sight yet ;-(
I'm reading Gilded Latten Bones
right now (well, currently, you know what I mean, I'm typing right now). Too
early for me to have an opinion, I'm just glad to back in Tunfaire. Then, soon
enough, it will be Surrender to the Will of the Night time! I'm just surprised
I still haven't seen any Publisher's Weekly-type reviews of it yet...

Strangely
though, on the net I can find the odd listing for Red Iron Nights being
released on 31/12/10 - does anyone know anything about that?
GLB was
not what I expected - at all - but I did enjoy it.
