When I downloaded and ran: FIntMap_1-32.zip from: http://www.nahee.com/Software/ I get: Help > About showing: "ver 1.31 Nov 2002." Is the version not matching the download file name when you run the program just an oversight in the development v1.32 version, or is the version named: FIntMap_1-32.zip an incorrectly-named v1.31 version? <---<< N.B. The ver '1.31/1.32' help file also says "Ver. 1.3" - Hal Lane ######################### # hallane@earthlink.net # #########################

Greetings,
This is a "bug fix" release of the application, and the first update in just over four years (which shows how stable and how few problems there are with the program). This program is for producing and editing .MAP files used with such fractal generators as: FractInt, ChaosPro, Chaoscope, and many more.....
As usual, the ZIP file containing the executable, help file, text document, etc. may be found at the following location:
http://www.nahee.com/Software/
Along with other fractal related downloads.

I assume, that when Raymond Filiatreault made his recent modifications, he forgot to update both the version level and the included ReadMe text file notes (which has his email address if you wish to contact him). Raymond has fixed the About dialog box to now reflect the current version level. Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/

Thanks for the info. I confirm FIntMap's version # is now shown as 1.32. Thanks for a great program, Raymond, Paul. Below is a color map I generated using FIntMap. It is the spectrum that a heated object glows with as its temperature is increased, like the colors that a 'burner' or 'eye' on an electric stove goes through as it heats up. I use this color map to see where the low and high iteration counts are in a newly-generated fractal. This knowledge allows me to color the fractal (select or create a color map) more creatively. If you load this color map into FIntMap you can see the shape of the red, green and blue curves I used to define the color map. To save the color map coded in compressed form in the parameter file below into a .MAP format color map file: - Copy, paste and save the parameter set below into an ASCII text file; I suggest: HotObj5.PAR - Run Fractint - Press the <@> key - Press the <F6> key to choose a parameter file other than the default - Select the HotObj5.PAR parameter file and press <Enter> - Select the Hot_Obj_Spectrum5 parameter set and press <Enter> - The image will be created - Enter Color Cycling mode by pressing <c> once - Press <s> to save the color map - Supply the name to save the color map file as: HotObj5.MAP - Press <Enter> to write the color map file - Press <Esc> to exit Color Cycling mode You now have a color map file of the heated object spectrum. Use the <L>oad command in either Color Cycling or Palette Editing modes to apply the heated object spectrum color map to a fractal you are viewing or have just calculated. Note that the tips of the spikes at lower right in the image have their colors change abruptly. This part of the fractal has been iterated more than 255 times. This means that the 256 entry color map is reused for pixel iteration counts 256-511 (and 512-767, 768-1023, etc.) ============ Begin Parameter file with color map ========== Hot_Obj_Spectrum5 { ; Hal Lane Jan7'07 20.0 P400 1024x768 ; Heated object Spectrum. ; Dull red, burnt orange, yellow, ; white, blue-white; Mandelbrot zoom reset=2004 type=mandel center-mag=-1.32502/0.0664932/13.33337 params=0/0 maxiter=1500 colors=000<37>X00Y00Z00<2>`10a10a20b30<23>pH0pI0qI0<11>\ tP0tQ0uQ0<24>vb0vc0vc0vc0<8>vg0vh0vh0vh0vi0<28>vrLvrMvr\ NvrNvsOvsP<43>vvmvvnvvnvvn<17>vvuvvuvvuvvuvvu<24>vvx } ============ End Parameter file with color map ========== - Hal Lane ######################### # hallane@earthlink.net <mailto:hallane@earthlink.net> # ######################### -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
