FOTD -- February 29, 2012 (Rating 7) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's rather unexceptional image lies in the debris on the northern shore line of the parent fractal that comes about when the formula Z^(1.5)+C is iterated at a strange level of 439.65 steps down the complex logarithmic hyperladder, which is actually more of a hyperhelix than a ladder. Why I picked this level I cannot say. With the 'floor' function built into the formula, the same image could certainly have been found at many other levels on the hyperladder. To me, the parent fractal resembles a wild young woman speeding down the road in a tricked out sports car with a large hood ornament, with her hair flying behind her in the wind. But don't get your hopes up. In today's image the only remaining sign of the wild woman is in the name of the image, "Wild in the Wind". All we have to show in the FOTD image is a fractal scene with routine features. If more of the woman were in the image, it might have earned a much higher rating. As it is, I could give it a rating no higher than a 7. The 55 seconds it takes to run the parameter file will pass in a flash. The official FOTD web site with the image already calculated may be accessed at: <http://www.crosscanpuzzles.com/Archives.html> The high-definition version of the image is at: <http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/jim_muths_fotd.html> The original annotated FOTD web site may be accessed at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> Heavy clouds and steady rain here at Fractal Central, with a few stray snowflakes mixed in, made today a day to be forgotten. The fractal cats, large Nicholas and small Cassie, forgot the day soon after it began, when FL brought out a battery operated toy cockroach that gave them great exercise all morning. The two humans had another typical day in a typical small town, wondering where humanity went wrong. The next FOTD, the first of a new month, will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and if everything is an illusion, then I must be an illusion also. But what is imagining that I exist?
