FW: Please post [this animation] to the list - From JoTz
Please post to the [Fractint] list. Sure.
Very nice animation! I like to watch everything go by at 1/2 speed so I can see a little more of your detail before it's zoomed off the screen: For: Windows Media Player: Right click window frame > Enhancements > Play speed settings > slider: 0.5 The motion is still smooth enough to not appear as stepping between frames at this speed. At (0:47...) I like the "figure/ground" effect from the pale background glowing "behind" the fractal. I'm wondering how you found the central figure that appears at (1:00)... It initially seemed similar to other areas in the image -- but, what a difference! Stopping playback at (1:13) and (1:17) give very nice still images. Difficult to color however; I scanned over 400 MAP files in my collection, found only about 4 that were acceptable. Again, compressing the video would make it pointless, so I upload the hi-rez AVI file, 600MEG for 100 seconds. http://www.fractal-animation.net/special/DeepPurple800.zip Enjoy! Very cool. Thanks for taking the time to do that. I also had trouble getting a good palette. Thats why I used that orange one that seems to work for most anything. I spent a few months last year improving Fracton's color palette editor to make it easier to use. I quickly discovered that an easy to use editor is only a small part of getting nice colors. I can quickly change the colors from one I don't like to another I don't like. Its hard to find a path to get something good. I have had the best success using color maps from Paul's color map collection. Jim Muth seemed to always come up with some really nice coloring. I hope he gets his computer issues sorted out. I have one animation I especially want to try. It has some morphing tendrils that extend into the inside area of a distorted minibrot. Maybe this will inspire me to try to get it done. It would probably take a week to do and I bet coloring will also be an issue. -- Mike Frazier www.fracton.org
