FOTD -- May 31, 2009 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: There are many Julia sets but only one Mandelbrot set. Not true. Just as there is a unique (totally perpendicular) Julia set associated with every point of the Mandelbrot set, there is a unique (totally perpendicular) perturbed Mandelbrot set associated with every point of every Julia set. But this four-dimensional stuff is best left for another day. Today we have a hastily-found scene in what is left of Seahorse Valley of the perturbed Mandelbrot set with an initial Z value of 0.6669953+0.6670071i. The obvious ghost bud in the background is almost totally obscured by a spectacular foreground spiral. I named the image "A Bud in Trouble" because of the distressed bud. Since I have done this type of image so many times in the past, I gave it no rating. The calculation time of 37 seconds can hardly be beat. The trip to the FOTD web site also is hard to beat.
