FOTD -- April 11, 2005 (Rating 5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a scene in Seahorse Valley. I named it "A Long Way Down" because of its high magnitude. It shows one of the tightest spirals I have yet come upon. The tightness of the spiral emphasizes the depth of the central midget. I used no logmap with the image, which causes the colors in the spiral to repeat themselves every 255 iterations. I added the mathtolerance entry to the parameter file to assure that the image renders at the correct magnitude and does not flip into arbitrary precision mode, which would cause the image to take several hours to render instead of the actual 5 minutes. The rating of a 5 indicates average worth.
