FOTD -- February 03, 2010 (5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: A continuing rush here at FC on Tuesday left little time for a fractal search. Luckily, the Mandelbrot set came to the rescue with an unexpected scene rather deep in Seahorse Valley. The name "The Square Squared" refers to the obvious square shape surrounding the unresolved minibrot at the center, and also to the fact that the whole thing was created when Z was squared. The rating of a generic 5 was held down because the Mandelbrot set has been explored so many times, and is so familiar. The good side of all this is that the image calculates in a blazingly fast 9 seconds, at least on my machine.
