They don't work because the [Fractint] list serve system chops long lines into multiple lines. Look carefully and you can see the chopped off piece of the long link on the line under the inappropriately shortened link:

One can manually copy and paste the two pieces of chopped up links like these into your web browser's address bar to reconstruct the full original web address, and then hit <Enter> and get the image or page to load correctly. I prefer to provide a short link from tinyurl.com that doesn't get chopped up. I like to include the full URL so people can see where the 'user friendly' short link is taking them -- even though I know it will get mutilated.
