FOTD -- August 02, 2004 (Rating 3) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: The rush continues here at Fractal central. Today's image shows a midget in the fractal that is created by subtracting Z^(-11) from 7 parts of Z^(1.1) then adding 1/C. It is basically a cut-off scene made more interesting by being rendered with the outside set to 'fmod'. The result is not all that interesting, and rates only a 3. But the very fast render time of 1 minute gives an overall value of a respectful 272. The name I gave the image -- "Mimoids" -- is a word from the novel "Solaris", where the living planetary ocean creates forms mimicking the images it finds in the minds of the visitors from earth. The task of downloading the completed image from the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> is about equal to the task of running the included parameter file and waiting a full minute. Warm, muggy weather on Saturday and Sunday here at Fractal Central kept the dynamic cats confined to the porch. Occasional showers kept the grass wet, assuring that the duo would remain close to home. Today is starting the same, so I expect similar behavior from the duo. For me, it's the same old story -- work, work, work. Who said that being self-employed means lots of free time for fun.
