Re: [Fractint] Ancient Par Files.
Hello again Gents, I see nothing has changed in the fractal world over the last ten years.. Everyone is as willing to help as ever, now I remember why I enjoyed the collaborations so much! Tim:
Don't you have a Fractal Creations 2nd Edition CD?
Yes I do, but for some reason I cant get some of the images to reproduce, for example 'Meta Cold' doesn't display the correct co-ordinates. rather than a full screen deep zoom I get a tiny sphere at the middle of the image. Ron:
I also have over 300 PAR files, mostly "ancient" stuff, including pete-1.par
Hello Ron. I am sure I remember you from shoes old days ;-) I have Pete-1.par but would love to see the rest of your par collection if you don't mind sending them to me? Paul:
I have a few of your PAR files.
I reckon I have most of those but I think you may have found one or two for me ;-) I will go through the list and let you know, is that ok? Ron:
There is an extensive collection of Fractint PAR files in the UltraFractal Library. Have your checked there?
Bloody Hell Ron! (forgive the swearing I am a Brit) Have you been at this for the last ten years with no break?... I am not worthy etc. I found the Ultra Fractal site but not the library, can you give me a URL link for it please? WOW.. I just looked at some of the features for Ultra Fractal (never heard of it before). So what is the story? What are the pros and cons compared to fractint? As I said forgive the ignorance, having been out of the loop for a decade I need you guys to help me catch up! All the best Peter
Peter, I posted a mistake regarding the UF library - it has extensive FRMs, not PAR's. I will send you a zipped up version of my PAR collection. The .FRM files within the UF Formulae Database are rather limited compared to the collection I have at this site: http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/OrgForm.html Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/

24-bit color and layering, off the top of my head. I'm sure there's other stuff.
and cons
It's not free, and only runs under Windows. ChaosPro is another Windows fractal program - it's free, and reads Fractint formulas and pars, too (IIRC). I use it, not being the sort to spend money unnecessarily.

Have you tried using an older version/release of FractInt to see if that might be the problem?? I have several available if you need one.

Just let me know anytime. And if I find anymore, I will send a list of those as well. Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/

<snip> Yes. 18.2 will render it correctly but won't allow me to customize the disk video mode as I do with V 20.0 I need to render these fractals at 8k+ x 6k+. I seem to remember that there might have been a startup parameter that allowed later versions to run as the 18.2 version but I don't know which feature it changed. Peter
I have 17.1 archived if anyone needs it. Some of my "ancient" pars won't work right with the later versions. I have virtually all versions. I'll look into making them available. Thanks mostly to Jonathan Osuch, a large amount of backwards compatibility has been built in. Use the reset= in PAR files to set old versions. Tim

One thing I would definitely like to have is the complete set of version release levels of FractInt. I only have the following: 2.10 4.00 5.10 7.00 8.10 11.00 12.00 14.00 15.10 16.00 16.11 17.00 17.01 17.10 17.20 18.00 18.10 18.20 18.21 19.00 19.10 (and everything from there up) Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/
Glad to see you again, Peter. For all you fractal old-timers, you may remember that it was Peter Moreland who posted a "Fractal of the Day" long before Jim Muth started his postings. This was when the Fractint list was originally on CompuServe. Lee Skinner
Hello Lee! I tell you, it has been a revelation over the last couple of days, looking at my old stuff and then seeing what is being produced now with various programs. I am literally stunned with the quality of the work I have discovered! Ron has done some great work with Ultra Fractal and following some of the links from his web site I have found other amazing stuff. Apophysis looks cool as well. Looks like I have some catching up to do ;-) Is there a site where I can see what you have been up to Lee? Do you know, I had forgotten that I did par of the day! Well I reckon I need some fast track training... but reckon I might post one or two again in the future :) All the best Peter -----Original Message----- From: fractint-bounces+peter=getitonbangagong.biz@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:fractint-bounces+peter=getitonbangagong.biz@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Lee H. Peter, Some of my images are at: http://www.fractalus.com/sylvie/fracdime.htm http://www.fractalus.com/sylvie/lslakese.htm http://www.fractalus.com/sylvie/lsmultifrace.htm http://www.fractalus.com/sylvie/lsmultifrac2e.htm http://www.fractalus.com/sylvie/lsmultifrac3e.htm Fractint is still my fractal program of choice. I've looked at Ultra Fractal, but it is still missing some functions (such as a browser like Fractint's) that I consider necessary for my work. Lee
