FOTD -- November 13, 2009 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I enjoy pictures of imaginary scenes on other planets, and today's image certainly could be such a scene. I have posted several similar images over the 12-year history of the FOTD, but as far as I can remember none of them have had a sky filled with altocumulus clouds or foreground rocks with such texture. The name "Alto-Cumulufractal" refers to the appearance and colors of the sky and rocks, which I actually did put some extra effort into. The rating of an 8 might be a bit liberal for an image so similar to several earlier images. I like it however. The parent fractal closely resembles the default Z^(2.5)+C Mandeloid. Today's scene is located in a tiny valley very near the X-axis, at the western edge of the fractal. The clouds in the image sky are more interesting than first meets the eye. I'm not sure if any minibrots lie in the clouds, but I might check the area a bit after posting this FOTD. The calculation time of 6-1/3 minutes is reasonably speedy. A cloudy, chilly but dry day here at Fractal Central on Thursday made little impression on the fractal cats, who spent a good part of the afternoon trying to get an early tuna treat, while the temperature of 55F 13C kept the FC heat running. The cats finally discovered the heat and remained snugly warm until treat time arrived. My day was average, which means there was nothing to note in my journal.
