The troubles are unrelated to this question - had software problems with Netscape and then the fan died, probably related to dog hair and it cooked the CPU. They were able to replace it and most of my hard drive is ok. But now there are problems with the video card which might just be from being joggled loose as it goes back and forth to the shop. I forget what video card I have but it was recommended by people on this list 3 years ago. I have been thinking about getting a laptop for some time just as a backup. I am running Windows 98 on a Pentium 500 with I think 156 RAM- have been very happy with it so was not thinking of changing. It's got lots and lots of disc space left. The computer is in the consultant's shop and I am at work so I don't have all the info- hope you're all having a nice holiday. Thanks Kathy What are the troubles you are having? What operating system (version and release) are you using? How much RAM do you have? How much free disk space is available?
I also was thinking of getting a laptop as a backup.
What OS will you be wanting on your laptop?
