Re: [Fractint] An Ultimate Par File Collection?
Well, I would be interested, but that's easy since I'm the one who brought it up ;) By the way, just so you don't think I'm lame or anything, I'm the one who currently collects Jim's fotd's hosted on Les St. Clair site. I collect the pars and formulas from this list for Les as well, but he's been busy so not to have posted all the 2003 files yet. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Hi, Vortex Swirling and Paul! Dear all! I'd be interested, too, to have all know pars downloadable somewhere on the Internet. And I'd be prepared to contribute: Over the years I've collected about 1200 files, the oldest files (posted at the CompuServe Graphic Developers Forum) going way back to 1991. In all probability, there are some double entries, and I have never tried to count or "guesstimate" the total potential images that are in there, but the archive is worth about 28 MB. So, if someone (you Paul?) can provide a place and/or address on the web, I'll make the collection available. I have the available space for housing everyone's contributions. But I will need to establish some protocols before allowing individuals to upload their files. I can even do some organizing of the PAR files for those that feel duplicates may be within their collections. Hmmm. Okay. I wouldn't mind being able to link my index to your site for my card-suit fractals, but I should again test if they look as I intend with Internet Explorer (The borderless version of my HTML formatting only works with NetScape). If I were to suggest a protocol, I would say that your index should link to the graphics, and that the graphics should contain your copyright notice, which is "For personal use only, although the user may authorize commercial printing of single copies for each person present at a print shop." Perhaps it should also be permitted for inclusion on a gargantuan CD-ROM collection for release at cost. That means when someone submits to you, then you respond by asking to include the submission on a disk. I wouldn't argue with e-mail submissions of multi-part MIME files.

Well, I have been slowly going through three collections that are available to me (and now to everyone else): http://www.nahee.com/Fractals/FractInt/ But have not gotten all of the duplicates removed from them for a single downloadable collection. It takes awhile to make sure that the similarly named ones are the same or different. My collection is missing 1,162 PARs which I obtained from "O" and have not gotten permission to publish as yet. All others were available at one time from the Internet (and many still are).
