FOTD -- May 07, 2010 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is the same scene as yesterday's, with the slight difference that it was rendered with the inside set to the color number zero instead of 'bof61'. As a result, all the parts of yesterday's image that were made of 'inside' stuff have gone totally black, leaving a scattering of dots, which become the outline of a Mandelbrot set when seen from a distance. This explains the name, "Skeletal Minibrot". Though yesterday's image rated a full 8, today's image is a virtual repeat, and therefore rates no more than a 6. I don't particularly like repeats, but sometimes they do happen. The calculation time is a zippy 19 seconds, almost exactly the same as yesterday's. The trip to the FOTD web site at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> where the finished image is posted, may not save any time, but it will avoid all the hassle that goes with setting up and run- ning the included parameter file. Thursday was a perfect day weatherwise, at least here at Fractal Central, where we had total sun and a temperature of 75F 24C. The fractal cats must have agreed, for when we gave them their morning exercise with their favorite toy, a toy bird on a string attached to a stick, they started leaping like year-old kittens. Cassie finally caught the bird in mid air and 'killed' it. My day was fair enough despite a minor flap during lunch with FL, who still feels my attitude toward the world is too negative. The next FOTD, a very deep and slow one, will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and anger solves nothing, but sometimes it sure feels right.
