FOTD 11-02-07 (Fractal Splat [No Rating)
FOTD -- February 11, 2007 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I gave today's image a name. It looks so much like a burst paint ball that I named it "Fractal Splat". I did not rate it however. A quick look will show why I gave it no rating. The image came about when I checked the Z^(1.23)+C Mandeloid 321 levels up the logarithmic ladder. At this level, the parent fractal resembles a Mandeloid with a long twisting filament stretching off to the southeast. Bits of disconnected filament lie scattered well beyond the main filament. Today's scene is located on a node of one of these disconnected bits of filament. Today's image might not be the best of all time, but it certainly is one of the fastest. It calculates in just over 1/2 minute on my tired old machine. On one of the newer units, it will be even faster. But the fastest way of all to enjoy today's big fractal splat is to visit the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and view it there. The temperature made it up to 36F 2C today. Though this was still below normal, the ample sunshine and lower wind made the day feel reasonably bearable. At least the fractal cats agreed when I let their noses sniff the outside air. The non-fractal work still is very heavy, as it will remain for at least a week or so. Then I hope things will return closer to a state of normalcy. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and see the pretty fractals.
