FOTD 21-09-10 (Testing--1--2--3 [6])
FOTD -- September 21, 2010 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: With a magnitude of over 2*(10^13), today's scene is right at the limit of resolution. In fact, the start of breakdown actually adds a bit of jagged variety to the iteration bands. The scene lies in one of the more remote valleys of the parent fractal that is created when 2 parts of Z^3 are combined with 3 parts of Z^3 before straight C is added on each iteration. The name "Testing--1--2--3" means absolutely nothing. The rating of a 6 seems about right. The calculation time of 10 minutes is a bit too long for the image however. I suggest skipping the calculation task and viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> The high point of Monday came during lunch, when FL asked which species of animal on earth I consider to be in the greatest danger of extinction. How could I resist such an opportunity? My answer was honest. I told her I consider humanity the most endangered species, and I doubt that any fantastic new high-tech plan can cope for long with our out-of-control reproduction. Instead of expending our energy on secondary problems like climate change, we should be more concerned with the primary problem -- our vast and still growing numbers. If we continue having children at the present rate, the number of children will soon reach the point of self-destruction. We need a solution that is acceptable as well as both moral and effective. Do I hear any suggestions? I guess not. Perfect end-of-summer weather prevailed here at Fractal Central on Monday. At this time of year perfection means cloudless skies, gentle winds and a temperature of 73F 23C. The fractal cats celebrated by getting into a tussle behind a shelf of books in the hallway and spilling about a dozen books onto the floor. Cassie looked the most guilty when the time came to pick up the books. Except for the fractal, my day was occupied by work and discus- sion. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and is it better to have a positive outlook or to be right? By many opinions, and the rating system of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) <http://www.iucnredlist.org/>, those within the category of Extinct in the Wild (EW) are in the greatest danger <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endangered_species>.

More than likely, humans will be one of the last to die off. We will only be outlived by rodents, insects, and bacteria.
If we continue having children at the present rate, the number of children will soon reach the point of self-destruction.
It seems apparent that we have already exceeded that particular point, based upon the natural resources being depleted on an hourly basis.
We need a solution that is acceptable as well as both moral and effective.
Not sure that "moral" should even be a part of the criteria. After all, morality is only according to a particular philosophy, religion, culture, time period, etc. And humans already have enough controversy over such things. 'Not sure that "moral" should even be a part of the criteria.' It only has to 'look' moral, see how they have us queuing up for pharmaceuticals and vaccines.
