FOTD 26-02-13 (Filament Jungle [7.5])
FOTD -- February 26, 2013 (Rating 7.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Since both FL and I are down with a bug of some kind, today's discussion will be brief. The image is therefore left to speak for itself. The parent fractal came about when I combined 1.4 negative parts of Z^(-7.4) with 7.4 negative parts of Z^(-1.4) and added (1/C) on each iteration. Today's image is located in the northernmost part of this parent. The name "Filament Jungle" refers to the twisting filaments that infest the scene. The rating of 7-1/2 means that I put only a minor extra effort into the coloring. The calculation takes only 1-1/4 minutes, which will waste no one's precious time. And the web sites will be even faster. The finished image is posted at: <http://www.crosscanpuzzles.com/Archives.html> Variations in hi-def are at: <http://www.emarketingiseasy.com/TESTS/FOTD/jim_muths_fotd.html> back images are at: <http://www.Nahee.com/FOTD/> The sky was cloudy all day here at Fractal Central. Light rain began in the afternoon, but a temperature of 39F +4C made it too warm for any frozen stuff. The fractal cat accepted the lack of sun early, and retired to the cozy bed we have set up for him on top of the tall bookcase in the spare room, where he can feel like king of the (cat) world. The under-the-weather humans somehow made it through the day. The next FOTD will be posted shortly. Until then, take care, and I hear that those who live near wind generators have been complaining about ill effects. Apparently, in addition to killing lots of birds, the generators create subsonic sound waves that disorient and sicken those who live nearby. I guess the greenies who are so concerned about climate change had best pin their hopes on solar panels. But I wonder how many thousand square miles we would need to cover to satisfy our ever-increas- ing demand for electric energy. There is a real solution, but no one wants to do it.
