FOTD 21-03-05 (Fractal Trouble [5])
FOTD -- March 21, 2006 (Rating 5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's FOTD is the last in the current series of adventures in the Rectangular sets of the Z^2+C Julibrot. It is a scene in the vicinity of a midget rather deep on the north shoreline of East Valley, and as such, it displays all the characteristics of the area, including elements that are nearly cut-off and bits and pieces of elephants with curled trunks. An unusual amount of stretching and skewing were needed to bring the scene to a recognizable form. When I was doing the stretching, I had a momentary thought that the scene might be in trouble, which inspired the name "Fractal Trouble", and to some degree, proved to be true. Unfortunately, after all the stretching and skewing, I was left with an image that I could rate no higher than a 5. But a rating of 5 is an average fractal, and there is nothing normal about an average fractal. The midget itself does appear in the image, though it has been stretched into a narrow slit and is a bit hard to pick out without toggling in and out of color mode. The render time of 5 minutes may be reduced to one minute or so by downloading the finished GIF image from: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> On-and-off rain fell all day Sunday here at Fractal Central. Late in the afternoon one explosive clap of thunder ended the day with a bang, and sent the duo scurrying for cover. When they reappeared about 1/2 hour later, I offered them their daily treat of tuna, which gave them enough consolation to end the day on a peaceful note. Today is starting with sun. It looks like a better day on the way. For me it looks like an uneventful day, unless something unexpected turns up in the world of fractals, that is. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and keep searching.
