FOTD 27-05-07 (Perturbed Brotrise [Not rated])
FOTD -- May 26, 2007 (Not Rated) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today was quite busy here at F.C., but I still found time for a quick visit to the Hyper-Mandelbrot set, where I checked the hole at the center of a midget on the filament extending from the large north bud of the Hyper-M-set. I pictured the hole just as it was ready to be engulfed by the encroaching chaos. With almost no effort being put into the image, I could not honestly give it a rating, though I did name it "Perturbed Brotrise". The image is a very fast one, finishing in a mere 24 seconds on the fireball P-2000 machine. On the snowball P-200 unit, it would take about 2 minutes to finish. But why not forget calculating the parameter file? The finished image is or soon will be available for instant viewing on the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> A very warm muggy day with a temperature of 84F 29C was refreshed by an afternoon thunder-shower, which dropped the temperature to 68F 20C. The fractal cats looked out the window long enough to see that it was raining heavily. Then they returned to their mischief. My day was quite busy. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and live your life like a fractal. Greetings, A few weeks ago, while reviewing the web logs, I had noticed that this one particular web page: http://home.att.net/~Fractals_2/FotD_02-01-29.html had increased in the volume of requests. And now, based upon the statistics over the past 90 days, I see that it has received over 11,835 requests, but the web page counter only shows it at 7,591 accesses. And the actual requests against the image itself is around 7,602. Guess I need to do some researching into why the counts vary so much, and see what is really going on. On a side note, the FOTD hosting site has had an approximate 10% increase in activity over the past few weeks. Several images seem to be very popular as of late, though most of them are over six years old. The problem with this sort of message is that many, like me, will go there to see what it's about! I was disappointed... Jim has created hundreds superior to this ine, IMHO of course. Yes, I thought about that several times before sending the posting, almost deleted it completely. But since there are so few on this list, I thought I would see if it got any response at all.
I was disappointed... Jim has created hundreds superior to this ine, IMHO of course.
Quite true!! In fact, it was just a few days ago that several people were commenting on the "Something New" image. And rightly so!! But after reviewing some of these older FOTD images, which are receiving a lot of attention all of a sudden on the Internet, I can only assume they are receiving "hits" because they have a somewhat late 60's early 70's artistic feel about them. And I have heard this is coming back in style again. (Good thing I saved my old black-light posters.) ;-} Sincerely, P.N.L. ------------------------------------------------- http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/PNL_Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/
Probably the popular images are the ones which happened to be high up on Google or some other search engine's listings. The one you mentioned seems to be 5th in line according to this search. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:of... Until Google learns to give higher weight to artistically more pleasing images, I'm afraid the ordering of the images in their index is likely to be somewhat random. Yes, there are several hundred coming from both Google and Yahoo, and accounts for a good percentage of those requests. But it still does not tally up to the total requests I have been getting lately for this single FOTD (which has received over a 1,000 more in the past week). Oh well... It is barely a drop in the bucket of all requests on my Domain. Just found it interesting there have been so many recently on this particular FOTD. Just goes to show, what the creator/artist may think others might not find as a popular item, could be a big hit world-wide (or at least for a few months at some time in the future).
