FOTD -- March 14, 2005 (Rating 4) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I was very successful at taking it easy on Sunday. In fact, I took it so easy that I had to break out a 2-year-old fractal study as today's FOTD. I can tell from the parameters that it is a Parabolic scene located in the vicinity of the period-8 bud on the northeast shoreline of the Mandelbrot set. The image has a very jovial, festive appearance. It could almost be a picture of the clutter lying on the pavement after a festive parade has passed by. I named it "Fêtes", which is the French word for 'festivals'. I chose the French word because it has a more artistic sound. Since the image is an old one, I could rate it no higher than a 4, but it is still quite interesting to see how such a familiar area of the M-set appears when seen from the Parabolic direction. With its render time of around 7 minutes, the parameter file is somewhat slow. The risk of upset stomach may be avoided by downloading the finished GIF image from the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> The clouds slowly broke up during the day here at Fractal Central on Sunday. By late afternoon the temperature had reached 46F 8C, and the fractal cats had enjoyed over two hours in the brush. When the came inside, they were so content that they almost forgot their tuna. Today is starting sunny but chilly. I expect the duo will manage to sneak in a pleasant afternoon. For me the day looks uneventful. Unless the world ends, the next FOTD will appear in 24 hours. If the world does end, don't worry about it. Until next FOTD, take care, and everything that has a beginning in time must have an ending in time.
