FOTD -- January 04, 2010 (No Rating) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image lies in the fractal that comes about when the formula Z^(1.56)+C is calculated 30 levels up the complex logarithmic ladder with the 'floor' function applied. I think this function gives the most accurate calculation, though many other functions also create interesting fractals. The parent fractal resembles a fat opening quotation mark. Today's scene is located in the east valley leading to a large bud on the southeastern shore line of the main bay of its parent. The image shows an unusually impressive minibrot with a satellite minibrot close to its lower right shore line. I have not checked this satellite, though I doubt that it equals the main minibrot. Since minibrots are old stuff, I gave the image no rating. The name "Minibrot Confusion" refers to the chaotic pattern filling the frame. The calculation time of 5 minutes requires a bit of patience. It took nearly three hours to answer her question, and I think she dozed off during the third hour. Maybe I'll write an article about the things I am dis-satisfied with in the world. Heavy clouds, intermittent light snow, a blustery wind and a temperature of 23F -5C made Sunday a day to be indoors here at Fractal Central in central Pennsylvania. The fractal cats, definitely not of the Cheshire variety, had no smiles for the outside conditions. They spent the day seeking the warmest place they could find. My day was largely spent in rather futile discussion, but I feel I might have made just a tiny difference. And tomorrow is 'back-to-normal' day. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.
