FOTD -- January 17, 2009 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I named today's scene in the Hypercomplex Mandelbrot set "Alex in Blunderland" because I'm not sure if the stuff filling the Seahorse-Valley-type minibrot at the center is real or just an artifact of imprecision. But whatever this stuff is, the image rates an honest 8, thanks to a significant degree to the expert coloring created accidentally by Fractint and tweaked by myself. There is not much more to be said about the image, which speaks for itself almost like one of those cute greeting cards with a built in vocal greeting. The sky was sunny here at Fractal Central on Friday, but when the day dawned with a temperature of 5F -15C and brisk winds, I knew the fractal cats would be cranky, as indeed they were. The afternoon high of 12F -11C and the forecast of a low tonight of -2F -19C cheered them not a bit. It took an extra treat of tuna to ease their dissatisfaction. For me the day was busy enough to leave little time to enjoy the cold. The fractal, which turned out above average, added to the indoor warmth. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.
