Hello, I upgraded my system to an Asus a7n8x vm400 motherboard with sempron 2800 cpu 512 mb 3200 ddr 400 ram and nvidia geforce4 onboard video. This gives me more video options than I had before except that unless I use 320x200 16 colors I get "overrange" error where before with an 8mb agp 6356 video adaptor I could use up to 1280x1024 256 colors. Is there something I can do to be able to use the DOS version of Fractint at higher than 320x200 (prefereably 1024x768 256 + colors) ? Thanks, and my deep appreciation of your effots <s>. This is an issue best addressed with utilities from your manufacturer, BUT, there is a jeneral solution that might help. Your monitor detected that your video card was trying to drive it at too high of a refresh rate, so that error didn't come from your computer, which the video card was forced to ignore. <a href="http://www.scitechsoft.com/products/ent/free_titles.html">SciTech Software Classics</a> A utility on that page might let you set your video card to a lower refresh rate, and note that your brain won't rejister refresh rates much higher than 50 Hertz, so there jenerally is no point in rates much higher.

Depends on your eyes, my friend. Your conscious mind may not register the flicker, but your eyes may, and they will feel the fatigue. Mine pick up flicker on monitors until you hit 72-75Hz. Also, flicker at the same rate as any flourescent lighting you might be using makes it worse. Flourescent light flickers at 60Hz (US) or 50Hz (Europe). David gnome@hawaii.rr.com
