The FOTD's are annotated quite nicely by Paul Lee with various web links. In the past there was a link to Paul Derbyshires "Quck Guide to the Mandelbrot Set" when describing various regions of the Mandelbrot set. The last known site where this guide posted seems to have gone 404. I been checking from time to time to see it might have found a new home. Then I found out about the Internet Wayback Machine at http://www.archive.org/web/web.php With it, you can find cached copies way back to 1996. A page might be cached several times. I was able to display the most recent cache of Paul Derbyshires Guide by going to this link. You can go there directly: http://web.archive.org/web/20030618092046/http://www.globalserve.net/~derbys... --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. This site seems to be still "live" (if old): http://members.rogers.com/derbyshire2/index.html Look under "Site Contents", then "Fractals", then far down the page "Mandelbrot Guided Tour", or directly: http://members.rogers.com/derbyshire2/manguide.html The fractal gallery also looks intact still: http://members.rogers.com/derbyshire2/fractgal.html BTW, this all came up in Google nearly on top when searching for "Paul Derbyshire fractals" :-) Regards, Gerald

Thank you very much. Just wish that some of the older links were still valid, for they had useful information to review concerning the topic Jim was discussing at the time.

Yes.... had to stop using that link when I noticed this as well. Have been hoping it would come back again.

Thank you for the link and the information about it!! :-) Now this is a fascinating site to visit. Checked a few Domain Names that I know have disappeared over the past couple of years, and was surprised to find they had all the pages and images for some of the more current years. It was interesting to note that the farther back in time, the less was actually in their archives. Like they only grabbed the main index or home page, then the next few years started gathering the sub-pages. Pretty Cool, though!!
