FOTD -- March 21, 2013 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: One of the more unusual things I have discovered while exploring the hyperMandelbrot set is the predominance of tentacles. Sometimes these tentacles have definite points of convergence; at other times they simply wander aimlessly or turn back on themselves. Today's image shows a nest of these tentacles, with the longer ones converging on a point and the shorter ones wandering aimlessly. There also appears to be something more solid hidden in the background of the image, but for the time at least, this hidden thing will remain unseen. The name of the image is not surprisingly "Tentacles". The rating of an 8 indicates that I consider the image to be one of the best of the past week or so. The calculation time of 3-3/4 minutes is slow however, but this problem may be remedied by checking the image on one of the web sites. The fractal cat complained of too few bursts of sun and decided to exhaust his energy begging for an extra serving of turkey and cheddar.
