FOTD -- August 25, 2013 (Rating A-7,M-6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's speedy image is a Julia set of a MandelbrotBC Mandeloid. The corresponding Mandelbrot set came about when I calculated the Z^(1.11)+C Mandeloid 111 levels up the hyperladder with the floor rounding function applied. This Mandeloid is shaped like a torpedo, as are so many Mandeloid fractals in the range just above Z^1, or unity. The formula is the original JuliaBC formula posted to the Fractint list a number of years ago by Andrew Coppin and reworked by myself several times since then. The MandelbrotBC version is one of the most prolific formulas of all time. (formulae for the over-educated) The artistic worth of a 7 and math worth of a 6 might be a bit conservative, the image, with its electric blue highlights, is really rather striking, but at least IMO the over-familiarity holds down the values. The name "Pentagonal Paradise" has nothing to do with heaven. It refers to the few smaller inner highlights, which have somehow formed themselves into near-perfect pentagons. The calculation time of 30 seconds will appear to pass in a flash. This blinding flash may be avoided by viewing the finished image on one of the web sites.
