Copyright doesn't protect just exact duplicates, it also protects "derivative works". So if I wrote an essay, and you simply rearranged a few of my sentences, you're not off the hook as far as copyright is concerned. I would expect no less from PAR data. Of course the simplest solution is to never share PAR data, and there are certainly plenty of artists who have selected that route precisely to prevent blatant rip-offs. Plagiarism--for profit or not--is rampant in the world, whether it's fractals, photography, or any other form of art. The majority of people would not do this, but when you connect to the net you're playing a numbers game. Even incredibly unlikely events will occur with a big enough sample size. --Damien
