FOTD -- March 09, 2014 (Rating A-8,M-5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is named "Down in the Dumps". The name does not refer to a duck fight at the city dump, it indicates the mood of the image. I have rarely seen such a depressed looking minibrot sitting so sorrowfully in the middle of such a depressed color scheme. The parent fractal came about when I iterated the expression Z^(1.3)+C at a level of 11 steps up the complex-logarithmic hyperladder. This parent is shaped much like the minibrot in today's image, though it is standing on its downcast head. Today's scene is located in a field of debris surrounding the period-5 bud on the northeast shore line of the main bay of the parent. Because of the overwhelming gloominess in the image, a good part of which was created by the colors, I have rated the art aspect at a cheerful 8. The math aspect is worth an average 5, since these multi-valued log images are nothing new. The calculation time of 1-2/3 minutes might seem to go slowly at the start, but once the image's gloominess becomes apparent, it will slow down markedly. Except for the slightly lower temperature of 45F +6C, today, with its near total sun, was a repeat of yesterday. The 11-year- old fractal cat enjoyed the sun on the window shelf for the entire afternoon, while the 6-1/2-month-old fractal kitten remained confined to her private room until she recovers from her recent talk with the doctor about the facts of life. The fractal humans passed the day being human. The next FOTD will be posted in the very foreseeable future.
