FOTD -- May 10, 2009 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's FOTD is late; the color of yesterday's FOTD is terrible. Yes, I know all this. I posted the wrong parameter file for yesterday's image, and FL suffered another antiquing attack Saturday morning. (We found another new rug.) It's too late to post the right parameter file for yesterday's image, (though I have attached it at the end of today's FOTD), and when I finally got back to the fractal computer Saturday evening, it was too late to find a proper fractal in time for the usual mid-evening- of-the-day-before post time of today's FOTD. But it is now bright and early Sunday afternoon, FL is in the garden, and things have settled down. I have included the right colors for yesterday's image (for those who noticed the original sickly green pallor) and written a short discussion for today's image. Today's image shows another order-11 minibrot, this one located in the valley leading to a period-9 bud on the northeast shore line of the parent, which is an oversized Mandelbrot set. I named the image "Innate Troubles", which is not as bad as it sounds. I rated it at a 6, which is not quite up to FOTD average. The calculation time of 4-3/4 minutes may be dispensed with by going to the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and enjoying the finished image there. But because of the unusual time of this posting, give Paul a bit of time to calculate and post the image. Considerable clouds kept the temperature of 79F 26C from reaching its full potential here at Fractal Central on Saturday. The fractal cats had no complaints when we returned around 8pm, but they carefully checked the new rug before permitting it to be spread on the hallway floor. My day was . . . well . . . interesting. More philosophy is still brewing however, so stay in touch for new ideas.
