FOTD 09-01-07 (Forever Flappable [6])
FOTD -- January 09, 2007 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image came about when I calculated the Z^(1.5874)+C fractal at a level 34 turns down the complex logarithmic ladder. The number 1.5874 is the cube root of 4, though this has nothing to do with the appearance of the parent fractal. This parent fractal is a very recognizable Mandeloid standing on its head, with a curiously distorted large period-2 bud. Today's image is located in the fractal chaos surrounding this period-2 bud. I chose this image to be the FOTD because the pattern around the midget at the center is unusually interesting. Most midgets in fractals in this range appear as centers of discontinuities, with explosive-like features radiating outward. The pattern surrounding the midget in today's image actually tries to do something different. After not-so-careful consideration, I rated the image at a 6, which is just slightly above FOTD average. I do not comment on how the FOTD average compares to the average in the wider world of fractals. The name I chose for the image, "Forever Flappable", has no connection at all to the image. It is simply a nonsense phrase that came to mind as I studied it. The calculation time of 3-1/2 minutes is fast enough for an average fractal. An even faster way to see the image is to visit the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and view the fractal scene there. Early morning rain on Monday here at Fractal Central gave way to a clearing afternoon with strong winds and a temperature of a mild 46F 8C. The fractal cats, who do not concern themselves with weather, were unusually quiet most of the day. My day had nothing out of the ordinary happen. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and be one of them.
