FOTD -- June 14, 2012 (Rating 7.5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image shows what happens to the Z^2 Mandelbrot set when it is corrupted in its depths by Z^(2.5) energies. As the image shows, the main spike of the M-set takes on the infinitely divided characteristics of the spike of the Z^(2.003) Mandeloid, including the two large minibrots joined at the hip. I have not yet checked the Julia aspect of this area to see if the mysterious rectangle is there, though I would not be very surprised to find it. The name "Railroad Territory" refers to the features around the edges that resemble the branching tracks in a switching yard. The rating of a 7-1/2 is beginning to become boring, but I must call 'em as I see 'em. In most cases, the calculation time of 2 minutes will be bearable. In those cases where it is not, I recommend viewing the image on one of the web sites.
