FOTD -- May 07, 2003 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: I'm quite rushed today, so this one will have to be short. With today's image we enter the ring territory of the parent fractal for May, thus the name "Enter the Rings". Today's scene is located in a tiny cut-off area of chaos in the interior of the ring that lies at the tip of the filament extending from the second-largest fragmentary bud at the top of the fan-like element of the parent. (It's kind of hard to write descriptions of fractals. They are pictures, and a single picture is worth a thousand words.) I like today's image enough to rate it at an exceptional 8. But even this rating leaves considerable room for improvement. Will we find a fractal with a rating of 9, or maybe even a 10, before the month ends? Only time will tell. And speaking of time, today's image uses 5-1/2 minutes of it when it renders from the attached parameter file. The dynamic fractal cats took most of the inconvenience in stride however, needing only a small treat of sliced turkey to maintain their good spirits. Today is starting sunny, but showers are forecast for later. Who knows what kind of day the duo will have. My day will be busy, regardless.
