FOTD 12-05-04 (Charge Cloud [3])
FOTD -- May 12, 2004 (Rating 3) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Long ago, back in my wonder years, when I was just discovering the 'true' nature of the world, I imagined atoms to be like tiny solar systems. The nucleus was the sun and the electrons were the planets. But even then I saw a problem. Since material is made of atoms, what then are the atoms made of? Of course, I never found a totally intuitive answer, for there is none, but I soon found that electrons can more accurately be imagined as charge clouds surrounding the nucleus. The stronger the charge, the more likely that the electron is there. This raised the question of what then is the 'real' electron, the cloud or the point. I had discovered wave-particle duality. I mention a bit of physics because today's humdrum image reminds me of my mental image of a charge cloud around an atom. I named it "Charge Cloud". The rating of a lowly 3 seems justified, since I can find nothing of notable interest in the image. The one good feature is the render time, which is a speedy three minutes, and raises the overall value to 96. The minor task of running the parameter file can be eliminated by downloading the completed GIF file of the image from: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Midsummer weather on Tuesday, with a temperature of 90F 32C, brought out the midsummer behavior of the fractal cats. We let them out into the yard early, but it was already too warm for cat comfort, and they soon found a cool spot in the shade of the holly trees, where they spent the day sleeping. No evening treat was needed. Today is starting the same. For me, the work is backing up again, so I had best get busy. Until next FOTD, take care, and be at ease.
