FOTD -- October 29, 2007 (Rating 8) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's visit to fractal land takes us to the country created when 5 negative parts of Z^(-2) are mixed with 1 negative part of Z^(-10) and (1/C) is added. This parent fractal consists of 3 nearly circular large bays, with many smaller more irregular bays attached. Today's scene is located on the edge of a blunt valley in the westernmost irregular bay. I named the image "Sparkling Splendor". The minibrot at the center appears to be sparkling alone in a world of lurking dark- blue shapes. The entire scene impresses me as being well above FOTD average, which accounts for the rating of an exceptional 8. The included parameter file takes 3-1/2 minutes to finish on the fast machine and 17 minutes on the slow unit. Brisk autumn conditions arrived here at Fractal Central on Sun- day, with north winds, sullen-looking clouds, and a temperature of 50F 10C. The fractal cats spent most of the day snuggled amidst the stuffed animals in the spare room, while I spent the day trying to do as little as possible. The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.
