FOTD 26-01-06 (NO RATING, NO NAME)
FOTD -- January 26, 2006 (Not Rated) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image is a Julia set of the Z^(1.3)+C Mandeloid as it appears 15 levels up the complex-log hyperspiral. The correspon- ding Mandel point is located in the center of a squashed bud with a periodicity of 7, which lies on the southeast shoreline of the main bay of the Mandeloid. The image was rendered in pretty much the traditional manner, with equal-iteration bands on the 'outside' and extra interest added by setting the inside to 'zmag'. I found the image in under 2 minutes and colored it in under 5, hardly enough effort to earn a name or rating for the image. The render time of 1-3/4 minutes is true on my 10-year-old 200mhz computer. On the current fireball units, it should render in around 15 seconds. Those without fireball units or with over-qualified fireballs can enjoy the image by downloading it from the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Chilly temperatures and gripping winds here at Old Fractal Central on Wednesday kept the fractal cats confined to quarters. The extra treat of mackerel came as a surprise, but it kept them reasonably happy. My day was kept busy with a combination of the usual work and the moving preparations. The forecast is for a 90-percent chance of a FOTD in 24 hours. Until that transcen- dental moment arrives, wait with bated breath.
