Today's post is a 3D zoom into BeastWith1500Iters, Jim Muth's FOTD for May 21, 2012. The red areas are the lowest in the image with blacks in the midrange and tan colors are the highest. It is hard to convince your eye that the reds are the lowest. Here is a link to an image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33642054/image/beastwith1500iters_3d.jpg A model of the fractal was exported from Fracton and the 3D image was rendered in Cheetah 3D. After six years in limbo, I am considering resurrecting my fractal website. Can anyone recommend a hosting service with good capacity and reasonable prices? Thanks, Bud (of the late Bud's Fractal Pages)

Do you want a Dedicated Hosting?? What do you consider "reasonable prices"? Capacity is pretty much a non-issue these days, since so many offer very large amounts and/or unlimited. You should also consider: • Static IP • GB/month transfer / bandwidth • Includes Secure Server (SSL) • Access by SSH and sFTP • Perl, PHP Module, etc... • 24/7/365 unlimited, free, real-time technical support • Databases (MySQL, etc...) • Mailboxes • Smtp & Pop3 Sincerely, P.N.L. -------------------------------------- Why do most folks hate cynics so much? Paul/David, I don't require a domain, mail, or scripts (would use a web counter service, assuming those still exist), just a place to host my files with 100 MB or so of storage to start. I am not at all familiar with going rates, but was hoping for cheap (I've been unemployed for 3 months). Thanks, Bud AKA Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul N. There are plenty of FREE web hosting sites available, if all you want is some space to upload pages and images to. Besides the aforementioned "Google Sites", a quick scan using a search engine for "Free Web Hosting" will show you a bunch more. You might even try starting with these options: http://www.free-webhosts.com/power-search.php http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_free_web_hosting_services Later, P.N.L. -------------------------------------- http://www.Nahee.com/PNL/Fractals.html http://www.Nahee.com/Fractals/

We've been happy with GoDaddy for domain and hosting, while others don't like it. YMMV. -- David gnome@hawaii.rr.com authenticity, honesty, community http://clanjones.org/david/ http://dancing-treefrog.deviantart.com/
