FOTD 11-01-06 (FOTD for 11-01-06 [NO RATING])
FOTD -- January 11, 2006 (NO RATING) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's un-named and un-rated fractal image illustrates a midget that lies on the ridiculously long main stem of the Z^(1.3)+C Mandeloid as it appears 13 levels up the logarithmic spiral. The ridiculously long stem of the parent fractal is mirrored in the overly long stem of the midget in the image. Since I put almost no effort into finding the image, and only 5 minutes into smoothing the colors, giving it a rating or a name would hardly be fair. True, the limited 256-color palette is unusually smooth on my old-style CRT monitor, but on the newer brighter LED monitor it is less impressive, making the image unworthy of either name or rating. Actually, the irregular edges of the iteration bands are largely responsible for the unusually smooth color effect. The included parameter file renders in just over 2 minutes on my 10-year-old 200-mhz fractal dedicated unit. On the newer 2300-mhz machine, it finishes in just under 3/4 of one minute. The render time can be totally eliminated by downloading the completed image from the FOTD web site, which may be accessed at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> Tuesday was a pretty good day here at Old Fractal Central. At 4pm we got the word from our agent that our offer on the New Fractal Central has been accepted and the contract papers are on the way for us to sign. The move from Baltimore to Sunbury by April seems a pretty sure thing. And considering what Baltimore has become, all I can say is 'good riddance'. The weather on Tuesday here at OFC was partly sunny and mild with a temperature of 61F 16C. This pleasantness kept the fractal cats outside and satisfied. Only a minor serving of tuna was needed in the evening. They actually seemed a bit bored with the tuna. I think my sister overstuffed them with tuna while we were away. The next FOTD probably, not certainly, will appear in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and prevail.
