Come on, man. The bailout _might_ be reasonable, but how many points escape after 255 iterations?
The bailout=9 entry should have been edited out of the parameter file. It appears only because I have it entered that way in my sstools.ini file. It has no effect on the resulting image however, the actual bailout of which, as specified in the generating formula, is imag(p2)+100 or 100. As for the 255 iterations, where did you find this entry? The maxiter of the image is 12000. Jim M.

It's my first guess if I decide that a black hole might not be, but usually I zoom out first. If the imaje is full of outside points, mostly in the first thirty iterations, then I usually don't bother raising maxiter above the maximum in the palette. Something worth doing might be to zoom out to where the image _is_ mostly outside points, THEN raise iterations and the logmap. If I didn't see any new colours being used...then it's probably a black hole. Cutting the resolution for challenging a black hole isn't out of the question, either. Your maxiter would take 80 times as long as the default if the entire image was inside the set, so ensuring that there aren't any weird out-of-nothing characteristics like in the unity fractal wouldn't be practical with numbers like that. I'd certainly hate to be using a 486 with numbers like that. _______ Watch where you put that 2.4GHz radio modem, 'kuz that frequency is awfully close to the microwave oven's 2450MHz. Maybe three watts doesn't do anything to your family life.
