Fractint version 20.04 patch 2
The executable file for Fractint version 20.04 patch 2 is now available on the developer's web site www.fractint.org. The Xfractint source is also available. What's new: Fixed the display coordinates so they won't change, after an image had been zoomed, when the maintain screen coordinates parameter is set to yes. Fixed the corner parameter screen and image parameter screen so that rotating and/or skewing now doesn't get reset when changes are made. There are no diff's available yet. I'm working on it. The just around the corner version 20.5 is intended to be an official release. If you see problems with the current zip/tar files, please let me know so that I can fix them. Jonathan

Hard to say. Waiting for inspiration, mostly. Trying to catch up on five years of house work. The documentation needs to be cleaned up a bit. We need some PARs to show off the new features. Mine don't count. A decision is needed for what to do with contributer email addresses (most of which aren't current). What should be done with the Fractint bug list and wish list? The wish list was recently victim to a video poker spammer and I think either Robin has temporarily taken that feature off-line or the servlet has crashed. From the messages that normally appeared on both these sites, I'm not sure they have much value. There were certainly some very good comments in the past, but not anymore. Tim can provide additional details as to what needs to be done, since I've never actually put together an official release before. Jonathan

I'm still planning to do this. Had a few details like a hurricane evacuation to contend with, though the real situation is getting to it after many years of not doing much. This weekend, however, is already full.

The main thing is just packaging everything up. Since it's been so long, there are probably some additional things to look at, mostly documentation. Should we dispense entirely with the scrolling list, and put names minus emails in the docs? There's really no need for any emails other than fractint.org domain emails.
From a user perspective there's no urgency to get the release out, since the "developer version" does everything.

Tim,

The current developer's executable files at www.fractint.org should be very close. I tried to set up the CVS repository so that all that was needed for the export to be ready to be zipped for release was to delete the source file directories. Hmm, and the help.src files.

It might be easier to leave the scrolling in and just remove the email addresses. Jonathan
