FOTD 12-02-03 (Fido [5])
FOTD -- February 12, 2003 (Rating 5) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: When I saw today's image, I saw such a clear image of the outline of a dog's head facing right that I had no choice but to name the the picture "Fido", the most generic of all dog's names. The midget that forms the head is actually the largest midget on the largest filament of the fractal that results when the formula Z^(1.5596104695)+C is iterated 1234 levels up the logarithmic spiral. No one has ever seen this spiral, which is even more abstract than the fractals that lie along it. I assume that it is five-dimensional, at least in the case of formulas like today's. But being no math expert, I am only guessing. With so little in the image other than the shadow of a dog's head, I could rate it no higher than a 5. But the lightning- fast render time of only one minute makes the work of running the parameter file worth the effort. For those who prefer to download the finished image, the download is available at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and: <http://sdboyd.dyndns.org/~sdboyd/fotd/index.html> The snow-covered ground and temperature of 27F -3C kept the dynamic cats indoors all day Tuesday. A snow squall in the evening dropped an additional few centimeters that assures they will be in jail again today. Hopefully, the tuna will keep them satisfied. I'll be satisfied when the modestly huge amount of work now before me is behind me. So until tomorrow, take care, and put your faith in things that are real -- that is after you have determined what is real. Jim I can see exactly what you mean about teh dog's head, but my first reaction was that the image was of an exotic flower! (I think it is worth 6 or 7) Best wishes John -- John Lewis, jlewis@clara.net on 12/02/2003
