Re: Mark and WinDoZe 98
Mark, KEEP win98SE - it works the best, I have been using it forever for all my animations. You can run fractint from windows in a full screen shell, or you can boot up and stop at the command line without loading windows. No problems at all. WinXP ? you see all the problems people here are having .... FAT32 is what I have, again no problems, and Win98 actually will work better. FAT16 is not necessary, I did a lot of experimenting years ago to find the optimum fractint conditions.
By all means, keep your Win98SE to run FractInt, but please don't use it to access the Internet. It's riddled with security holes and if you surf with it you're very likely to just turn it into a zombie that spews garbage onto the net for everyone else to deal with. And there won't be any more patches, as Microsoft has officially ended support for it. Keep it disconnected from the net entirely or make sure it's behind a thick firewall (and even then, don't actually access the net with it). Damien M.
