FOTD -- September 24, 2007 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image was created by subtracting Z^(1.1) from Z^(-1.1) and adding (1/C). The parent fractal is little more than a scattering of fractal debris with many small distorted Mandel- brot sets lying in the debris. Today's scene is located near the tip of an archipelago of debris extending from one of the buds of one of the larger M-sets. I named the image "Hither and Yonder", though I have no idea why I chose such a name. The rating of a 6 seems about right for the image, which IMO is somewhat better than the FOTD average. In the image I tried to give the effect of a Minibrot standing out alone in an otherwise empty universe. The rating of a 6 shows how satisfied I am with my success. The near-effortless calculation time of 48 seconds can be bettered only by going to the FOTD web site at: <http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html> and viewing the already calculated image there. With an absolutely cloudless sky and a temperature of 79F 26C, the weather was perfect here at Fractal Central on Sunday. I took advantage of the optimum conditions by spending the day in recovery from the day out on Saturday. The fractal cats spent the day helping me recover.
